OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, KING OF THE UNIVERSE

The final Sunday of Ordinary Time, and the final Sunday of the Liturgical Year.  Next Sunday, we go to Year C, the third year of the three-year Sunday rotation of readings.  (The Sunday Lectionary has a three-year rotation, Years A, B, and C, while the weekday Lectionary has a two-year rotation, Years I and II.)

We close our liturgical year with the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe (often known for short as "Christ the King").  We will have our brass with us this weekend for three of the Masses (I work alone at 7:30).

MUSIC FOR HOLY MASS

Sung Ordinary of the Mass and Alleluia: same as last weekend.

Entrance hymn: Rejoice, the Lord is King, Worship, #493
Psalm 93: The Lord is King; he is robed in majesty, music by Sam Schmitt
Offertory hymn: Christ is the King, Worship, #500
Communion anthem: Christus Vincit, music by yours truly
Meditation hymn: We praise thee, King of Kings, music on sheets provided (Listen)
- This hymn comes from a little-known 1954 hymnal, titled (appropriately enough), the Christ the King Hymnal.  This was a hymnal with texts in English and Latin that were set to hymn tunes mainly of German origin.  I was able to download the pages of this hymnal when I first learned of it just about a month ago.
Recessional hymn: To Jesus Christ, Our Sov'reign King, Worship, #497

Peace,
BMP
